Rewiring Education: The State of Technical Learning in England
Released in December, Rewiring Education sets out a serious and ambitious programme of reform for England’s technical education system, and this event marks the beginning of a major CSJ mission to rebalance England’s education landscape. For too long, the academic route has dominated while the technical pathway has been treated as a second-tier alternative. The result is a system that fails to deliver clear, credible routes into skilled work and contributes to a distorted labour market, rising NEET numbers, an oversupply of graduates, and persistent skills shortages.
We are absolutely delighted to see the report has already attracted significant press coverage in support of our mission to build a technical pathway that is valued on its own terms: shaped by industry, rooted in regional needs, prioritised earlier, and based on what we know works.
