Tom Rawcliffe

Researcher

The CSJ’s commitment to putting its alliance of frontline charities at the heart of everything it does is exactly why I was so eager to join the team. Too often, the voices and experiences of those on the margins are left out of the debates taking place in the corridors of Westminster. The CSJ’s ability to link the grassroots with power is vital, and I am excited to contribute to this work.

I studied History at the University of York, before moving to London to study for a Master’s at SSEES, UCL. Having grown up on the Fylde Coast, I have long had an acute sense that our welfare system can work better for the most vulnerable people in our society. As a Researcher on the Welfare programme, I look forward to contributing to the CSJ’s mission of building a welfare state that is fit for everyone, everywhere.

Something you might not know about me

After a year living in Estonia (and many hours spent studying befuddling grammar) I have a working knowledge of the Estonian language.
