I joined the CSJ firstly for its focus on poverty with all its causes, and secondly because it is the only think tank that has a network of hundreds of local charities feeding directly into its work. From past voluntary experience and my upbringing, I know the best solutions to poverty are local, relational, and found on the frontline. I focus on debt and financial inclusion.
Before the CSJ, I worked for Stephen Timms MP for two years, and I was an economist at the Financial Conduct Authority before that. I studied economics in St Andrews.
Outside of work, I read a lot, hike whenever I can escape London, and “garden” in the small patch of concrete outside my house. I follow Premiership Rugby and support Sale Sharks.
Something you might not know about me
While a student, I once played capture the flag with the golf flags on St Andrew's historic Old Course. It was not necessarily with the Old Course's permission - we may have sneaked on at night.
