Sam is a Researcher for the Communities project which is a collaboration between the CSJ and NatWest. The project aims to understand how communities can best be supported, particularly as the pandemic reshapes local areas across the UK.
Sam grew up in Cheshire and completed his BA at University College Maastricht in the Netherlands and the University of California, Berkeley, in the United States. Sam built a broad academic background focusing on philosophy, social science, and neuroscience. He then completed his MPhil in Politics at the University of Oxford where he was awarded national funding to conduct his DPhil (PhD) research on the place of reflection in politics.
In addition to research, Sam tutored PPE students and gained strategy consulting experience at Oxford. He has been Trustee of an NGO supporting a school in Tanzania for nearly ten years, and co-developed a financial development project in Rwanda.
