Joe Shalam joined the CSJ’s policy team in 2016. Over the last two years Joe has managed the CSJ Housing Commission, chaired by Lord Best, as the policy programme’s lead author and researcher. As of June 2019, Joe became head of the newly established Financial Inclusion Policy Unit, looking at the wide range of financial issues holding people back in Britain today.
His previous research has focused on improving childcare support for disadvantaged families through Universal Credit, as well as widening access to the labour market for individuals with learning disabilities.
Prior to joining the CSJ, Joe graduated from the University of Oxford with Distinction, having completed a Masters on parliamentary politics in the late eighteenth century. He completed his undergraduate degree at UCL.
