Samuel Bruce

Head of Housing and Communities

There are many reasons to love working at the CSJ, but the most significant is its commitment to learning from brilliant charities in addressing social policy issues. Conducting research here has enabled me to combine experience from backgrounds in academic research, the charity sector, and political advocacy.

I completed a BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences at University College Maastricht and the University of California, Berkeley. Following this, I conducted research and taught at the University of Oxford, completing an MPhil and DPhil (PhD) focused on political philosophy. I have been a charity Trustee for ten years and have taken a keen interest in politics, having previously been an intern for a think tank, several MPs (both Labour and Conservative) and two Crossbench Peers.

Something you might not know about me

I love making music—especially singing choral music and playing jazz and the blues.
