Head of the Education Policy Unit
James is Head of the CSJ’s Education Policy Unit. He oversees the team’s policy and advocacy work across a range of areas, including apprenticeships, access to higher education, alternative provision, childcare, lifelong learning and literacy/numeracy. He is committed to improving lives through social policy and has a particular interest in education and skills policy.
James’s academic background blends law, economics and politics. He has a master’s degree from the University of Cambridge, where he graduated with distinction and won the course prize for the top-performing student, and a first class degree from the University of Bath. He is a qualified lawyer and prior to joining the CSJ, he practised at Dentons, an international law firm.
