2010 Awards

The Centre for Social Justice Awards 2010 took place on Wednesday 14 July at J.P. Morgan Asset Management on the Victoria Embankment. CSJ Awards are given to outstanding charities that are working on the poverty-fighting frontline in local communities around the UK. Seven winners were chosen from a total of 460 entries. Each winning charity was celebrated on stage before an audience of 300 key influencers, who came together to learn about and support the work of these highly effective and innovative organisation. Winners each received a £10,000 cheque, and a further 10 shortlisted charities received £1,000.

Highlights from the evening included a performance from Adetomiwa Edun of Daniel Beaty’s Knock Knock, a drama by Leaps & Bounds and an address by Sir Bob Geldof on the importance of fathers. The evening was hosted by GMTV’s Emma Crosby, and award presenters included Jemima Khan, Dan Snow, Tracy-Ann Oberman, the Rt. Hon Francis Maude MP, the Rt. Hon Frank Field MP and Steve Webb MP.

The celebration concluded with a Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Rt. Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP to Noreen Oliver, for her commitment to transforming the lives of drug addicts in Burton.
