"BREAKTHROUGH BRITAIN"
Breakthrough Britain, the anticipated policy recommendations from the Social Justice Policy Group, was launched on Tuesday 10 July 2007. The result of 18 months work of consultation with over 800 experts, organisations and charities, the policy proposals will put forward a fresh new approach to tackling poverty in the UK.
The handover to the Conservative Party will be at a high profile event with Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP and leader of the Conservative Party Rt Hon David Cameron MP.
Philippa Stroud, Executive Director of the Centre for Social Justice which has been housing the Social Justice Policy Group says, "This is the culmination of months of intense work and expresses the insight of thousands of volunteers on the ground and poverty fighting experts. The policies present a genuine opportunity to reverse the causes of poverty in Britain."
This is the second report to come from the Social Justice Policy Group chaired by Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP. The first report, Breakdown Britain, provided a 'state of the nation', describing five pathways to poverty.
Breakthrough Britain, are the policy recommendations to David Cameron and the Conservative Party on the most effective ways to alleviate poverty in Britain.
