Putting Social Justice at the heart of British Politics
The Centre for Social Justice Chairman, Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP, continued to put Social Justice at the heart of British Politics today as he addressed the Conservative Party Conference in Bournemouth on the need for society-wide intervention in 'Breakdown Britain'.Addressing the urgent dangers of the last in our communities facing a detachment from the 'caravan of society', Iain Duncan Smith praised the inspirational work of voluntary groups that 'literally save lives.'
Met with a standing ovation by Conference delegates, Iain Duncan Smith had been at the Labour Party Conference the week before. In a fringe meeting in Manchester he debated the true nature of social justice against Bob Holman.
In Bournemouth, Mr Duncan Smith described the crippling effects of the one trillion pound personal debt in the UK, the consequences of drug and alcohol addiction and the need for voluntary sector involvement in the provision of a society-wide intervention in the state of the country.
